I flew my fiance’ to London for an unbeknownst-to-her engagement trip. The plan was perfect. I was to take her to the famously romantic Clos Maggiore, have a photographer ready, and propose with the restaurant empty. Afterward, it would be on to the Apollo Theater to see London’s renowned Wicked. Then, my photographer bailed the night before...
My heart SANK. I began frantically DM’ing photographers in London, praying for a miracle. And boy were my prayers answered!
Sophie immediately took interest and within a half an hour, we had a plan. She showed up early to the restaurant the next day to ensure all was in order (communicating amazingly along the way to relieve stress on my behalf) and when the moment arrived, she could not have done a better job.

Proposal Photography at The Shard, London.
This time last week I was having the most amazing evening at Shangri-La The Shard, London, with Sean and Garrick for their proposal shoot. Sean photographed on my right proposed to Garrick and it was all one big surprise. Sean booked me 3 years ago and no thanks to Covid they hadn't been able to come over from San Diego, so yeah for 3 years we'd been planning this!
The initial plan was for the proposal to be in Southampton on a yacht, and once we'd sailed across the solent and into position alongside the Queen Mary 2, that's where Sean was going to propose and then break the news that they'd be embarking on the QM2 shortly after! But due to the horrendous weather forecast I said to Sean a couple of days before that we needed a plan B, so from there we had some ideas ready for a back up in Southampton if needed, and later that evening the call was made to cancel the trip out on the yacht due to it being too unsafe in the bad weather. So the following morning I'm getting ready to go and scout out the locations in Southampton whilst liaising with Sean, and he asks if I'd be able to come and stay in London that evening and shoot at The Shard London... ummm yes!! Fast forward to that evening and I'm knocking on their hotel room door "Room Service" that was the plan for me to get into their room and start shooting, Sean then got down on one knee next to the window overlooking London city's sparkling lights, so incredibly romantic.
It's one to remember that's for sure. I'm loving editing their photos and I'm looking forward to seeing these two wonderful men again when I photograph their wedding in Italy.
