A beach newborn photoshoot at Sandbanks Dorset

There is something incredibly special about returning to the same place where a story began. A couple of months after capturing Anna’s maternity photography at Sandbanks Beach, I met them again, this time with their tiny daughter in their arms just 18 days new.

When I welcomed Anna and Spencer back to the beach, everything about the shoot felt beautifully familiar. The same golden sand, the same warm evening sun, but now their little girl was here, held close, curled into her mother’s chest, totally content in the sea air.

The beach naturally allowed them to feel calm. It’s a space where they could remain wrapped in that tender newborn bubble, yet still take a moment to breathe and soak it all in together.

Anna and Spencer’s laid-back nature made the whole session feel effortless. With just a few gentle prompts and guidance from me, we captured natural, authentic and unposed moments that perfectly captured their connection and the quiet joy of welcoming their daughter.

Anna nailed my wardrobe advice with soft, neutral tones and cosy knitwear that added gentle texture and warmth to every image. Spencer opted for a black t shirt which added just the right amount of contrast, I love the depth it brings to their images while still working harmoniously with the soft tones.

I loved capturing the little details: the way her tiny hand curled around her Dad’s thumb as she settled into their arms. The dunes surrounded them, creating an intimate space for just the three of them.

It was so special seeing them back at the beach, this time with their daughter, completing the story they had started together. These are the moments I love to capture, the moments that pass in an instant, but are forever held in photographs.
